CONCERT BAND 8-12

Concert Band is the primary program of musical study at Guildford Park, as it is in most high schools in BC. Band is a performance ensemble course, where you will learn to play an instrument as part of a team, and, if you stick with the program, you will all play together from grade 8 to 12. It will likely be the only class you take in high school where you are with the same friends and same teacher year after year.

Learning to play a musical instrument is both extremely difficult and extremely fun and rewarding.  For an idea of the types of things you will learn over the 5 year program, have a look at the program overview section of this website.

In addition to the many performances you will take part in each year, we do a trip somewhere for a few nights each Spring to participate in a high school music festival (COVID permitting). In the past, we have spent time in Banff, Whistler, Victoria, and Edmonton. Travelling and performing with your friends is a major highlight of the year!
